Get To Know Us

Elder Calvin D. Saulsberry and Evangelist Catherine Black Saulsberry received a vision from the Lord to birth a home church ministry during the year of 1997.  Because the environment was welcoming and very much connected to prayer and hearing the gospel, Calvary Hill experienced growth.  This propelled them to move to a new location.  That location was the YMCA on Quince Road where they remained  for approximately two years. During the year of 2002, with intentionality and reliance on God, the Saulsberrys received a mandate from the Lord to move the ministry forward once again. This is when the congregation entered the church building at its current location on Airways Boulevard. The Saulsberrys are native Memphians who have also lived in Southern California while Pastor Saulsberry served in the United States Military.  Pastor Saulsberry and Evangelist Saulsberry have been married for  forty-years and are devoted parents and grandparents. So, if you are seeking restoration, healing, Christian principles for everyday life, a family-oriented atmosphere, and an encouraging environment that fosters fellowship among the membership, then visit the Saulsberrys and the community of believers at Calvary Hill where there is a commitment to being about God’s business.

Pastor Saulsberry has served his country with dedication and has retired as a U.S. military veteran.  He also has served his city and retired as a Memphis Firefighter. With the same fervor of the Firefighter's Prayer, "When I am called to duty, God wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age," he continues to exemplify that mission in service to his community as a devoted and faithful pastor. On any given Sunday, Pastor Saulsberry can be found preaching the word of God,  praising our risen Savior, and leading souls to Christ.
